THE HUNT

1972/73 Season

This is the first episode we filmed. It was not aired first, however.  John-Boy is nervous about his first hunt with Daddy. He’s not sure he can kill an animal until a bear threatens Daddy’s life and he saves his father’s life. This is also the one where Mary Ellen , challenged by her rivalry with Martha Rose, has to decide between a baseball mitt or a dress.

THE BOY FROM THE CCC

1972/73 Season

I loved Michael Rupert in this episode as Gino, the boy who ran away from a CC camp. He is a tough New Yorker and is shown kindness from the Waltons, something he is not used to. A great episode, I think. I had a crush on Michael as he was SO nice to us. Years later when in NY, we went to see him in Pippin.
